Prefect rebuffs the event

No waiver, not even for one hour, on an out-of-season Sunday afternoon. No, the Route Blanche was, as usual, strictly 'no-bikes' on 13 October. The hundred cyclists who came to request a bike and pedestrian access route between the upper and lower valleys were kept away from the RN205 by a police blockade.

A highly disproportionate reaction in the face of a legitimate and modest request: A bicycle lane, using the shortest route possible, must be commissioned to allow cycling access from the top of the Chamonix valley to the bottom and beyond. The State and ATMB should finance this cycle path, as the official alternate route is completely impractical for daily bike journeys.
